The government had promised reform but not delivered any, Mr Abbott said pointing to the lack of agreement on the mining tax, a carbon price and asylum seeker policy. From the SMH
Now if you have read “1984” by George Orwell you will understand what “double think” is. Here you can see how it works, this is politics in it’s purest and otherwise irrational form.
In the above statement Abbott seems to be saying Labor has failed to find agreement on mining tax, a carbon price and asylum seeker policy yet in each of these cases the most fervent objectors to change have been himself and his party. If labor failed to find agreement on these items, then it is due in a great part, to Abbotts position on these same issues.
So let us ignore for a moment Abbots apparent internal contradictions or miss representation and ask the question, “what if I was in favor of a mining tax, a carbon price and [more compassionate] asylum seeker policy ?”. Would I be better served by Labor or Liberal ? You can answer that question yourself, but I expect many understand Abbott does not want any progress in all of these issues. So what was his point ? vote for labor and you will get what Abbott wants ? – why bother voting for him then ?
It is time to minimise the number of politicians in politics.
